<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"With only 3 days until Dicefell 4 begins, let\u2019s take a look at the point system the D&D5.5 tournament will be using. For those of you participating in other RPG\u2019s, you needn\u2019t read on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the tournament, each team will be allotted 4 hours of gameplay, with one mandatory 15-minute DM break that happens at the 2-hour mark. During the adventure your team will encounter many different challenges, each of which have a point value (which we\u2019re keeping secret for now). Some challenges earn you the points just for completing them, others earn you points only if completed in a specific way. \u00a0It will be up to each team to determine how much time and effort to put into each challenge, and if you believe the challenge is worth completing or completing fully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a base understanding for the point system, keep the following in mind:
1) Powerful combatants are worth more points than weaker ones. Bosses are worth the most!
2) Hidden objects\/ areas are usually worth extra points.
3) Side-quests always provide decent points, however they frequently have nothing to do with the main quest. But sometimes they do! Trust your instincts.
4) Achieving new zones is worth some points.
5) And of course, if you make it to the end there\u2019s a bonus waiting for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With that being said\u2026
1) The adventure is designed to challenge you. It is impossible to explore every area, do every side-quest, and reach the end of the adventure. If you focus on reaching the end, you can (maybe\u2026), but you\u2019ll miss a lot of points along the way and magic items as well!
2) This tournament is NOT speed-based like the previous two events were. There is no active \u2018rush\u2019, therefore teams can take their time. You can Short Rest as frequently as needed, but be warned, you smell VERY different (yummy) to the denizens of the Underdark, and that will quickly gather attention. You\u2019ve been warned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your DM\u2019s can tell you what Zone you\u2019re in, if you ask, but not how many points you\u2019ve earned.
Zone 1 can earn you 14 points.
Zone 2 can earn you 71 points.
Zone 3 can earn you 26 points.
For a possible total of 111 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes in the adventure you\u2019ll be able to return the way you came, other times you won\u2019t be able to. Therefore, make sure you\u2019re ready to move onto the next area! Returning might not be an option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once all teams have played, the Dicefell Overlords will tally the scores and announce either Sunday night or Monday morning on social media who the top 3 teams are! Please be aware that most (at least 3\/4) members of the team need to be present to pick up your prizes. Anyone else who would like to know their team\u2019s score, just ask and we\u2019ll let you know! Shortly after the event, we\u2019ll post the score-card which was used to tally the points so everyone can see and get a stronger feel for next year.
