(Deciphered letter from a corrupt Temple of Lysic guard to a Cult of the Black Earth agent, 6 months prior)
Earth Brother,
I have received your package, and everything on our end is ready for the Ghost Moon. Once the Moon is high in the sky, myself and other faithful will take action. Freeing the Earth Elemental from its role as ever-defender should be an easy task! These fools have become so complacent. I am second in command of the outer patrols and security, and have already convinced all of my subordinates that it is okay to drink ale on duty! They all think highly of me, like I am their friend who will take care of them. It doesn’t seem to take much. I can’t wait to see their bodies smashed against the Elemental’s hammer when it is finally freed.
Word has reached my ears that the Geomancer is now going to be working out of the Garrison’s armoury? If so I hope he has some ability to tunnel into the basement, for the upper fortifications are still too strong to bypass or defeat. There is a new person in charge, a sturdy Mountain Dwarf named Copperbeard. Despite my hatred for most, I can’t help but respect his determination and steadfast resolve. He doesn’t like me at all or trust me. Clever Dwarf. It is a shame that we cannot convert him. I feel he will be a problem when the time comes to act.
If the Geomancer can get into the basement, he will bypass most of their defenses. And if that is the plan, I can arrange for a distraction outside which will pull additional soldier from the Garrison to give him time to breach and set-up his toy.
Once the Geomancer is in place, we should be unstoppable! Anyone trying to enter the Pyramid will not only have to go through the Elemental, but their efforts will be greatly hampered by the Geomancer’s wicked earth magic. I have suggested that the Geomancer also focus his magical efforts on the bridge, for it is the only way in from the city and likely the path the followers of pelor will take.
Let us just hope that the tremors from the Elementals steps and strikes do not carry through to the Armoury. I don’t know if you have ever met the Geomancer before, but he is highly sensitive to pretty much any form of distraction. Easily irritated. I truly wonder how he became one of the faithful?
6 more moon’s, my Earth Brother.
